History Never Tasted So Good!
The Heritage Brewers Guild will host a FREE virtual beer tasting on Saturday, March 13th beginning at Noon.
Registration is available at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/beer-style-history-and-tasting-registration-142397014303
This virtual beer tasting will focus on three locally available beers that you can purchase at a number of local stores. You will be able to taste the beer at home and follow along with a detailed style tasting led by a National Level Certified Beer Judge. Members of the guild will discuss the beer style referencing the Beer Judge Certification Program's Official Style Guidelines. The origin and history of the style will be discussed as well.
The event is free, however, you will need to purchase the beers for yourself if you want to taste along.
This tasting will showcase Pilsner, Irish Ale and Coffee Stout. The official beers will be from Saranac Brewery. We recommend the 12 pack mixed pack of Saranac's Irish Roots (https://www.saranac.com/brews/seasonal/spring/12-beers-of-spring/) available at most Consumers Beverages and Wegman's Stores. The pack contains Irish Golden Pils, Irish Red (Irish Style Ale)and Irish Coffee Cream Ale. (There is also the Always Hazy Peach IPA which we will not be tasting during the event. Bonus beer for you to enjoy.) You may also pick up other beers in those styles if you cannot find the Saranac pack. Premier Gourmet may have the styles as single cans or bottles.
Tasting information: Tasting and evaluating beer requires that the beer is consumed to experience all of the sensory aspects of beer. Generally the evaluation takes only 2 - 4 ounces from each bottle or can. We encourage you to practice moderation and responsible drinking.
(Saranac, Consumers, Wegmans and Premier Gourmet are not sponsoring the event and are being provided only as resources for the event, they will not be able to answer specific event questions. This is not a promotion for any brand or business referenced, it is an educational event from the BNHV and the Heritage Brewers Guild.)
